Recent Success Stories
For the Electric Drive Transportation Association, Environics helped the organization produce The Electric Drive Roadmap for Energy Security document presented to the new Obama Administration and members of Congress and for generating national and policy media coverage. The organization was successful in obtaining "stimulus" funding for accelerating the growth of the electric drive industry.
For The Home Depot, Environics develops a variety of programs to highlight the retailer's progressive environmental and sustainability initiatives. In April 2009, Environics created The Canadian Green Home Index for Home Depot, a bi-annual report that rates and tracks Canadian attitudes and behaviors relating to sustainable practices in the home. The report received news coverage from coast-to-coast, and will become a new environmental benchmark for media.
For the Water Design Build Council, a new trade organization consisting of large engineering firms working on clean water and waste water projects, Environics built a successful media outreach program in 60 days that included placements on National Public Radio, Engineering News & Record and WaterWorld.
For Earth Hour 2009, Environics helped the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) generate record media impressions and event participation in Canada and the U.S. to raise awareness for global action on climate change. Participation in Earth Hour increased in the U.S. from 100 cities in 2008 to 320 in 2009. Globally, Earth Hour went from 400 cities in 2008 to more than 4,000 in 2009, far exceeding expectations.
Environmental Credibility
At Environics Communications, we practice the sustainability that we preach. We were the first North American public relations agencies to achieve carbon neutrality (June 2008, certified by Pembina Institute). We push our partners and suppliers to share our commitment to reduce, reuse and recycle. The majority of our staff travel to work by public transit, while others make their daily commute on company-subsidized bicycles or walk. Our continuing education program for employees now regularly includes sessions and guest speakers on environmental issues.
