Cameron Bishop joins Environics Communications as VP in the Government Relations Practice
Toronto, June 10, 2010 – Environics Communications Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Cameron Bishop as vice president responsible for the agency's government relations practice.
In this role Cameron will oversee a diverse portfolio of private sector and not-for-profit clients at Environics Communications with issues ranging from policy development and analysis, to government procurement and relationship building with key public policy makers.
"Cameron brings a great combination of experience and enthusiasm to the Environics team," said Bruce MacLellan, president, Environics Communications Inc. "In this role he will be working closely with existing clients, and mapping out our expansion of the GR practice to new areas."
Prior to joining Environics Communications, Cameron was director of government affairs and media relations for the Canadian Lung Association in Ottawa. In this position he played a key role in securing a multi-million dollar commitment from the federal government toward Canada's first-ever national action plan on lung health, announced in April 2009. He was also involved in a major public education effort regarding the H1N1 vaccine, and oversaw the Association's work with the federal government on developing clean air policies, and an ambient air quality management system, for Canada.
Cameron has previously served in senior capacities to various Members of Parliament and Cabinet including as press secretary and assistant responsible for strategic outreach to the Minister of Public Health in the government of Prime Minister Paul Martin, and as a Legislative Advisor to the Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs. He also served as manager of government relations with the Insurance Bureau of Canada from 2004 to 2005.
An avid Ottawa Senators fan, Cameron and his wife reside in the nation's capital. He will divide his time between Ottawa and Toronto.
