Melissa Garcia joins Environics Communications as Account Supervisor in Washington, DC, office

WASHINGTON, January 11, 2010 – Environics Communications, Inc. today announced that Melissa Garcia has joined the agency's U.S. health sciences practice as an account supervisor in the Washington office.

Garcia comes to Environics from Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, where her clients included Berlex Laboratories (now Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals); Merck; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health.

Previously, Garcia was an account executive at Spectrum Science Communications, where her client work included Abbott Laboratories; the American College of Chest Physicians; the American Diabetes Association; the American Society of Hematology; Biogen Idec; Bristol-Myers Squibb; Genentech; and the Progeria Research Foundation, among others.

"Melissa brings to Environics an extensive background in health sciences for medical associations and nonprofits, government agencies, and pharmaceutical, biotech and clinical research companies," said Environics' U.S. General Manager Dave Groobert. "Her background makes her ideally suited for our expanding U.S. health sciences practice."

Garcia, who is fluent in Spanish, is a cum laude graduate of American University, with a major in public communication and a minor in Spanish studies and language.
